It is like when we are in our teens, we care too much about what others think and have unnecessary desires that only create more sadness. That is when our parents who are much wiser have experienced so much in their lives guide us through this phase.
Higer mind (Consciousness) vs Lower self (Ego)
In the same way, within us also there is a higher/universal mind and a lower mind most popularly known as the ego. The motivations of the ego develop through our shadows, the unhealed and misunderstood parts within ourselves. The higher mind or our spiritual self is wiser because it knows the unity that exists in life, that there are no rights and wrongs, that it all makes sense in the end.
3 reasons why you need to start connecting to your higher self
When we make a conscious effort to commune with our higher mind through meditation, healing, singing, dancing, going into nature, we get lots of benefits.
- Listen to your authentic voice: We allow ourselves to hear our own inner voice which gives us our direction in life (perhaps it tells you that you need to sit with yourself more often). It would completely depend on where you are in your life, but it will be what you need in that moment.
- Living for yourself: We stop listening to the world for direction, the one that sells you ideas of success and happiness. You will no longer work for validation and appreciation or to prove a point. You will work because you want to, because you are thrilled to bring your gift into the world.
- Deep meditation: Your meditation will also naturally deepen because you are already focused through the day and when you finally choose to turn off your nervous motor and swim in the ecstasy of your beloved, we naturally calm down with ease.

Five things you can start doing today to connect to your higher mind and get consistent results
Body
Start with the body, tire your body, make it sweat- hiking, gym, yoga, whatever you can to let all your suppression get out. Go to a therapist if you have a lot to share.
Mingle with the five elements
The more we mingle with the five elements, the more we allow ourselves to cleanse. That means sunlight, water, fresh air, earth and Sky. Exposing ourselves to the elements helps us connect to our own Self.
Find your spark
What is it that you love to talk about? What is it that you would pay to do? What fills your Instafeed and yet you don’t seem to get enough of it? Whatever it is, do more of that often, get your creative juices flowing to jump start the day. You will swiftly go through the day and move pass any obstacles very easily.
Writing
Writing helps you organize your thoughts, question yourself and become aware of deeper thoughts that may need your examination. Research suggests that writing actually makes you happier and healthier.
Meditate
When you are in communion with yourself, the whole existence is there to support you. There is so much scientific evidence about how the body creates serotonin, endorphin while meditating. It also helps us live longer.
